Costa Coffee unveils new store design at Great Portland Street

Costa said the redesign was intended to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining convenience and comfort

Costa Coffee has unveiled a new store design with the reopening of its branch at 111 Great Portland Street, London, following a full refurbishment aimed at creating a “modern and inviting” space for customers.

The refreshed branch features an open-plan counter, allowing customers to see drinks being prepared, alongside self-service digital kiosks designed to speed up ordering. Seating options include booths, lounge chairs and high stools to suit both quick visits and longer stays.

The interior incorporates a muted colour palette, ambient lighting, abstract artwork and installations inspired by coffee landscapes. Costa said the redesign was intended to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining convenience and comfort.

Nick Ridley, property and store development director for UK&I at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome customers back to our newly refreshed Great Portland Street store. This transformation reflects our ongoing investment in Central London and our ambition to create modern and inviting spaces, where enjoying a coffee becomes a meaningful part of the day.

“Whether you’re grabbing a flat white to-go or settling in for the afternoon, we’re proud to offer an experience that’s as premium as the coffee we serve.”

The refurbishment is part of a wider investment programme by the chain in Central London, which has also seen upgrades at its New Oxford Street, Tooley Street, Argyll Street and Wigmore Street stores.
